tunstall listed the mother as hannah rather than mary.bishops transcripts were
searched for the christening of thomas, son of alexander and hannah. the entry
listed alexander's occupation as a plumber. this helped confirm that Thomas

191 The IGI listed the marriage of an Alexander Sincler Maskew to Mary Lee in
Giggleswick, Yorkshire, in 1829
Due to the time period and the name Mary Lee ( the daughter in Liverpool was
named Mary Lee Maskew) it was concluded this marriage was ancestral.
Maskew, Alexander Sinclair (I40)

192 The original entry was located in Kendal, Westmoreland, Bishop's transcripts.
The entry listed Alexander as the son of Margaret, she being a spinster
(meaning she was single). It said he was born 22nd March 1809. This matches
the previos information on him.
Although Alexander was illegitimate, his father's name may be Alexander
Sinclair (a scottish name) because of cases of illegitimacy, it was common to
name the boy after the father with the middle name being the father's last
name.
Baptised 22 August 1809 Kendal Westmorland. (see photostat copy of certificate)
IGI indicates christened 13th Sepember 1818 Kendal Westmorland
